Church was cancelled on Sunday, so it seemed to be a very wierd day without going to church. Sunday afternoon I took this picture of the top of our picnic table (about 11 1/2 inches):

I worked my way to the middle of our backyard to stick the ruler in the snow. It might be hard to see, but the ruler is about 3 inches below the top of the snow:

The snow piled up on the picnic table and bench:

After checking out the backyard, I had to walk to the front and measure it up there (about 12 inches):

Here’s a wider shot of the front yard. You can see where I walked. The snow is also covering our walkway lights.

Growing up, we always teased Dad about his Christmas trees. They were often crooked in some way. Have to say that the one Mom and I picked out looks pretty good:

I think the true definition of a white Christmas is to have snow falling. In the true sense of it, we didn’t have a “white” Christmas, but it sure was so pretty outside:

With all of the snow and wind, we had a lot of smaller branches come down in the backyard:

Our front yard was a different story. The corner by Mom’s study always gets a lot of branches, since there are five big trees right there. We ended up with a huge pile of branches, with several of them about 15-20 feet long. Thankfully none of them did any damage to the house, though one big one hit our neighbors house:

Christmas Eve, Mom and I attended our church service. Choir sang and I also played flute. To get to church, I had to move some of the snow to get Mom’s car out og the garage. I didn’t remove enough. When we got home from church, the car ended up sliding on the driveway and I got Mom’s car stuck in the berm of snow that I had made next to the driveway. I had to shovel down to the bare pavement to get Mom’s car out and into the garage. I didn't feel too bad, because Elliot, Yvonna, and April came up the next day (Christmas Day) around 1:30 pm. They were having a little problem getting in the driveway, with all the deep ruts (he then made even deeper ones) and the ice:

Because of all of the stuff with April, Elliot has asked that I don’t post pictures of her here yet. Christmas was a blast with a little one around. Almost all of my pictures include April, so I can’t put any on here.
To end the year, Mom and I just stayed around the house and rang in the New Year quietly.
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU IN 2009!!!!
